Prayer is your warranty

Matthew 7:7 (NIV)
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

On a drive home from work one night, a guy noticed the light on our car's instrument panel was going dim. The car was still a relatively new model. So he decided to check the date on the warranty.

Reaching into the glove-compartment, he pulled out the paperwork. His eyes searched for the date. His heart sank in disappointment when he read that the warranty had just expired the previous month.

He was unsure of the cost of the repair. So before he took the car in for repair, he said a prayer asking God to keep the cost down.

The next day when he went to the shop to pick up his car, the man explained that the total cost of the repair was $900.00. However, he went on to explain that he was willing to wave the payment for the part and only charge us for the labor. This left us with a balance of only $100.00! Prayer had been his warranty.

Perplexed, confused, and frustrated, oftentimes describes the way we feel about the problems we face in our life. It's during these times we must learn to turn to the power of prayer.

Prayer has spiritual power to it. Through prayer, God can produce things to appear from the realm of the invisible to meet our needs. God can use an effective prayer to draw us closer to Him, or turn it into a catalyst to heal our sick body. A soft word uttered to Him can give us the supernatural strength to keep us from sinning, or the durability to go on, when we feel like giving up on life. An earnest prayer can mend the emotional wounds that pierce through our hearts.

Prayer is the greatest privilege we have as Christians. It is essential in order for us to lead a happy life. God adores hearing our voices lifted up to Him in prayer. Our prayers don't have to be long or fancy, they just have to come from a sincere heart.

Dear Lord, thank You that we can come to You in prayer no matter the reason. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
