The Footsteps of Jesus

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.

Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.

Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,

other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed

that during the low periods of my life,

when I was suffering from

anguish, sorrow or defeat,

I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,

"You promised me Lord,

that if I followed you,

you would walk with me always.

But I have noticed that during

the most trying periods of my life

there have only been one

set of footprints in the sand.

Why, when I needed you most,

you have not been there for me?"

The Lord replied,

"The times when you have

seen only one set of footprints in the sand,

is when I carried you."

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Dear Lord we thank you for walking with us, for always being there. We pray that we would share that with those that need to here it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Are You Humbly Walking With God?

Todays entry is compliments of Student Life where our students from chruch are.

Today’s family group time was about Micah 6:1-8. This passage revealed several of God’s characteristics to students. The passage testifies to God as the Creator, Provider, and Protector of His people. God expected His nation, Israel, to be holy and consecrated to Him. There is nothing so precious to God as a heart consecrated to Him. When we surrender and obey Him, we may still face trials, but we will experience peace that we could never know without Him. Through Micah, God made it known to His people that we can always depend on Him. He is in control. Yet we still tend to forget God when we face trials. When we come back to Him, it’s ridiculous to think that we ever doubted Him. Overall, the study encouraged students to remember that God is the only constant thing in the universe, so we should stick with Him. How? By acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with our God.

Listen to what the LORD says: "Stand up, plead your case before the mountains; let the hills hear what you have to say. Hear, O mountains, the LORD's accusation; listen, you everlasting foundations of the earth. For the LORD has a case against his people; he is lodging a charge against Israel. "My people, what have I done to you? How have I burdened you? Answer me. I brought you up out of Egypt and redeemed you from the land of slavery. I sent Moses to lead you, also Aaron and Miriam. My people remember what Balak king of Moab counseled and what Balaam son of Beor answered. Remember your journey from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of the LORD." With what shall I come before the LORD and bow down before the exalted God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Dear Lord, we pray that we wil be acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with you. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
