Keep Your Eyes on Jesus

This morning in church we had a real blessing. We had a group from Uganda called the “Ugandan Thunder” to lead worship. They are a group of 13 orphans that sing, dance and praise our Lord. At one point while they were being introduced, one little boy was introduced as the preacher of the group. He was given 3 minutes to preach. He used Matthew 14. He told us Peter did fine as long as his eyes were on Jesus, once he took his eyes off of Jesus is when he sunk in the water. What a great lesson from a 10 year old Ugandan orphan for each of us to grab hold of. We need to keep our eyes on Jesus and not take our eyes off of Him.

"Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water." "Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"

Matthew 14:28-31

Dear Lord, we thank you and praise you for being there for us just as you were for Peter so many years ago. We pray that we would learn to keep our eyes on you as we go from day to day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
