Proverbs 3:3 (ESV)
Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you;
bind them around
your neck;
write them on the
tablet of your heart.
Love and faithfulness are very important in life. You
should always have them.
Most of us carry many things with us. We have ID's, driver
licenses or permits, pictures of friends, family and pets, iPods, phones, or
other gadgets, all of which we feel we need, and that, if we leave the house
without them, then we feel lost. Well, in this scripture, Solomon states what
we really can't leave home without is love and faithfulness. The love Solomon
is referring to is the love of God and God's creation. The Faithfulness, or
truth, Solomon discusses is being faithful or true to God and God's people, as
well as the gifts God has given you. So, we need not leave home without our
wallets that have ID's and other important information because we don't want to
pay the cost, but there is a bigger cost to pay if we don't carry love and
faithfulness with us.
Today, as much time as you spend preparing yourself to go
out with all the things that you think you need, don't forget to carry with you
love, even when someone does something to annoy you. Don't forget to be
faithful and truthful to who you are and who God made you to be, not who
everyone else wants you to be.
Dear Lord, help us today to be mindful of Your love and how
we can show it to people even when we don't feel like it. God also help us to
be faithful in every area of our life, in school, at home, at work, in my
private time, everywhere. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
