A Lesson I learned from Diamond

Luke 18:6-8 (NIV)
6 And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

Would you like some cheese with that whine Diamond? Whine, whine, whine. How I get fed up some days with listening to Diamond whine. In fact I get so sick of hearing her whine she often ends up getting exactly what she wants just to shut her up. Talk about enabling her to continue in a negative behavior pattern. Shame on me!

At the same time however Diamond's whining has reminded me of Christ's positive command to his disciples to always pray and not give up. The parable of the persistent widow reveals that consistency in prayer does work. The unjust judge, simply to get rid of the women and not wear himself out, finally gave her justice.

So, as cheesy as it may sound, I am not going to give up whining, sending up a plaintive, mournful cry before God in regards to the many unjust situations facing our world today. I know for myself I find it easy to forget about the terrible dilemma many of our Christian brothers and sisters face each and every day in third world countries; Beatings, torture, death, alienation, poverty and the like, all because of their faith in Christ Jesus. How they need the consistency of our prayers for justice.

Now when Diamond whines instead of being annoyed and fed up I allow it to be a godly reminder to me to be consistent in prayer for justice, that the whole world might live in freedom and peace.

Dear Lord, thank you for the Bible and how it reminds us to  pray for justice and not give up. Thank You that with you all things are possible. Help us to pray and to not give up. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
