Isaiah 66:1-2 (ESV)
1 Thus says the Lord:
“Heaven is my throne,
and the earth
is my footstool;
what is the house that you would build for me,
and what is the
place of my rest?
2 All these things my hand has made,
and so all
these things came to be,
declares the Lord.
But this is the one to whom I will look:
he who is
humble and contrite in spirit
and trembles at
my word.
In our house we have a recliner that has one of those built-in foot
rest operated by a lever on the side. It's my captain chair. It's so
comfortable that oftentimes I will kick up the foot-rest, and within minutes,
fall asleep.
The scripture says God's captain chair, His throne, is in
heaven... and his footstool is right here on earth! This planet is God's
footstool. That means everything – the mountains, the rivers, oceans, your
home, under His feet...but, more than that, your problems, your worries, your
fears – they are all under His feet as well!
So stop worrying and relax – give those problems over to
God, kick up your feet, and rest in Him, realizing that every issue you're
dealing with is also truly under His feet, and that He never slumbers or
sleeps!
Dear Lord, we thank You that You have all our problems
under control and we can just kick back and rest in that fact. In the Name of
Jesus, Amen.
