The Family that Prays Together......

Colossians 3:20-22 (New International Version)
20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. 21 Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.

We father's have a very important role to play in the lives of our children. God could have chosen any role he wanted, but as another has said, he chose to present himself to mankind as a loving Heavenly Father.

As God demonstrated his great love for us, fathers (with God's help) need to model God's love--first of all--in the home for his entire family.

The following is just one of many examples to demonstrate the importance of a father's role.

There is a report by Warren Mueller whose study revealed that where both parents attend church regularly, 72 percent of their children continue in the faith.

Where only the father attends, that percentage drops to 55 percent, but where only the mother attends, just 15 percent of the children remain involved in the church.

Most of us will be familiar with the old saying that said,

"The family that prays together, stays together." Perhaps it would be better this way, "The family that prays together, plays together, shares together, and goes to church together, stays together."

As a parents: Dear Lord, please help me as a parent to model for my children the kind of person you want me to be so that they, seeing your love in me, will want your love for themselves. In Jesus’  Amen.

As a Young person: Dear Lord, please help me to become the person you want me to be so that when and if I have children, they will see your love in and through me. And if I never have children, help me to know your love and share it with every person you bring into my life. In Jesus' name. Amen.
