The Greatest Love

Somewhere I read about an artist in Paris named Marcel de Leclure, who set the world's record for composing love letters. In 1875, Leclure sent his true love, Magdalene, a letter containing only three words, "I Love You," repeated 1,875,000 times. But the story doesn't end there. Leclure also repeated verbally the phrase "I love you," a total of 5,625,000 times. Robert Ripley says, "Never was love made manifest by as great an expenditure of time and effort."

I want to say to Mr. Ripley, "Believe it or not there once was a greater display of love than that of Mr. de Leclure. It was the love of God displayed on the cross of Calvary."

When God could not do anything with us, He did something for us. He gave us His Son.

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

-1 John 4:10 (New International Version)

Dear Lord and Heavenly Father, your love is awesome! Help us nurture its growth in our heart, and help usto pass it on those around us that we come into contact with every day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
